Life Group Questions -- Holy Ghost Stories (2): The Spirit of Missions -- October 3, 2009
- What section of the newspaper do you read first -- funnies, sports, world news, local news, editorial, business? Why?
- If a news-clipping was written for Acts 2:1-13, how do you think it might read? Would the spin be positive, negative or a bit of both?
-
In last week's message, we heard about three aspects of this event in Acts 2 that is representative of the Spirit's work in other parts of Scripture.
- The first is a violent wind. Read Ezekiel 37:1-14. How does the wind or breath in Ezekiel compare and contrast to the wind in Acts 2?
- The second is fire. Read Exodus 3:2-5. How does the fire there compare and contrast with the fire that occurs in Acts 2?
- What do you think it is about wind and fire that makes them such important symbols for the work and power of the Holy Spirit?
- (Bonus question: for real keeners! Compare and contrast Genesis 11:1-9 with Acts 2:1-13. In what ways is Pentecost a reversal of what happened at the Tower of Babel incident?)
- Would you respond more like those in vs.12, or like those in vs.13? Why?
- What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit?
- How can you be more open to seeing, hearing and feeling the presence of the Holy Spirit in your prayer, Bible reading and reaching out to others for the sake of Jesus?
