Life Group Questions -- Holy Ghost Stories (4): The Counselor -- October 25, 2009

Getting Started:

  1. Have you ever had to serve jury duty? What was your experience like?
  2. Was there anything from last Sunday's message that surprised or shocked you? What do you think about that issue now?
  3. In your own words, try and paraphrase the three goals of the Spirit's work (vs. 8-11).
  4. What do you think Jesus meant when He said, "He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you"?
  5. Look up John 12:23-24, 27-28, 13:31-32, and 17:1,5. Considering when and how Jesus uses the word "glorify", what do you think that word really means in John's gospel?

Application:

  1. Of the various roles of the Holy Spirit described here, which one have you come to appreciate recently?
  2. How has your idea and "gut feeling" about the word "conviction" changed as a result of hearing this week's message and studying this passage?
  3. Has Jesus ever said things to you that you could hardly bear (v.12)? What happened?
